A Canadian homestay that changed not only my English skills but also my attitude toward life

During my 3 months of homestay in Canada, I was able to have a truly valuable experience. Most of all, Canada’s beautiful nature made my eyes and heart feel new every day. The endless blue sky, fresh air, and peaceful atmosphere everywhere were very different from Korea, which made my time there even more special.

Through many activities, I met a lot of friends and felt big changes not only in my English skills but also in my thoughts and attitude. Talking with friends from different backgrounds helped me use English naturally, and my skills improved a lot. I was also inspired by their positive attitude and passion even in hard times. It made me look back on my life in Korea and think about how I could improve myself. In Korea, I usually came home late, went to bed late, woke up late, and stayed out with friends until late night. But during these 3 months, I made better daily habits and improved many parts of my life.

I also want to thank my homestay family, Julian and Catherine. When I first felt shy in a new place, they welcomed me warmly and cared for me like their own family. Because of them, I could get used to life in Canada quickly. Having meals together with smiles and feeling their kindness even in small talks gave me a lot of help. It became an unforgettable and meaningful memory for me. If I get a chance, I really want to visit them again someday.
