[2025-10] Hayoon's (15) Parent
The Best Gift We Could Give Our Child. Hello,I am the mother of Hayoon (17), who participated in the Fall 2025 CHH Homeschool Homestay Program. I never expected that our family would one day send our child to Canada for a three-month homestay. But looking back, I feel truly grateful that we were able to join, and grateful that Hayoon completed the program safely and returned home with a heart full of meaningful memories. To be honest, this decision was not easy for me. I shar

Q: How were your 12 weeks in Canada? A: This was actually the first time I've been away from my family for this long. Before becoming an adult, we don't usually spend more than three months apart, so it was a really special experience for me. Every day felt really fun, and there were so many enjoyable moments living with my homestay family. So I think I had a really great time. Q: How was life with your homestay family? A: I got to learn about culture, like dining culture and

Q: How were your 12 weeks in Canada? A: Yes, it was good. I think it was a special experience for me. Living together here in Canada, far away, and having these experiences together felt really special. There's no academy, no homework, so I was able to learn how to use that free time. Q: How was life with your homestay family? A: They were really warm and kind, and it was fun. I think I spent a lot more time with them. We ate all three meals together, played a lot of board ga

Q: How was the experience with your homestay family? A: It was good. Everyone was kind, which was nice. It was fun because there were a lot of kids to play with. And the pasta was the best. The one with the round pipe-shaped pasta with holes, mixed with some sauce and sausage—that was so delicious. Q: What's your most memorable moment? A: Going to the Youth group. Playing with friends there and the games we played together were so fun. After listening to the message, we all p

Q: How were the past 12 weeks? What was your most memorable moment? A: It was good. It was fun. Banff! First, seeing Lake Louise, and there was a line on the lake where we ran and went sliding down. That was really fun. I also played ice hockey with my host dad's family, bought a lot of souvenirs, and having spaghetti for dinner. Those are memorable moments. Q: How was your experience with your homestay family? A: It was good because playing together all the time was fun. Hos

Q: How do you feel about returning to Korea? A: I'm a bit sad. It's sad to say goodbye to my family here while I want to go back to Korea. When I'm a bit older, I want to study abroad in Canada. I really think this is the best place. It was a little challenging being together all day, and we had small disagreements sometimes, but through that, we became really close. Having someone my age helped my English improve a lot as well. Q: How was life with your homestay family? A: M

Q: How do you feel about returning to Korea? A: It's... kind of sad. I'm sad. When I go back, I'll barely get to see the kids again. That makes me a little sad. Q: What's your most memorable moment from the 12 weeks? A: Everything was fun, but... at church, we went to Youth group, right? Meeting friends there and having fun is what I remember most. On Halloween, I made a Cybertruck costume and won the costume contest. Getting chocolate and prizes is probably my most memorable

Treasured Moments in Canada . I spent three months in Canada for a homestay program. Before going to Canada, I was worried because I might not be able to attend middle school due to attendance requirements. However, I thought that once I entered middle school, I wouldn't have time for this kind of experience, so if not now, I might never get this chance. Despite my concerns, I really wanted to go to Canada for the homestay. Looking back now, I feel that it was the right decis

A Canadian homestay that gifted us countless experiences. Although our daughter was the oldest among the students in this session, sending a child alone to another country felt like an adventure for us—and, to be honest, it came with many worries. Nevertheless, she completed the 12-week homestay without so much as a scratch or a single painful incident and returned home safely. We are deeply grateful to God, who held and guided her from departure to return. Before she left, w

The Canadian homestay that felt like the best decision we ever made for our child. Many experts say that the best thing we can do for our children’s education is “travel.” But the reality is, frequent travel is not easy, and traveling abroad is even harder. That’s why reading is considered the next best way to give our children indirect experiences. The reason travel and books are more valuable than studying, tutoring, or academy classes is because they help a child build a l
