안녕하세요, 저는 Matt Dempster입니다. 어느덧 정현이와 함께한 지 12주가 흘렀고 이제 거의 마지막에 접어들었습니다. 지난 12주 동안 정현이를 알아가고, 그의 문화와 그가 자란 환경, 그리고 가족에 대해 배우고, 저희 가족에 대해서도 함께 나누면서 정말 멋진 시간을 보냈습니다.

지난 12주 동안 우리는 정현이와 함께 많은 즐거운 활동을 했습니다. 산에 가서 아름다운 곳들을 보여줬고, 정말 즐거운 시간을 보냈습니다. 엘크(큰 사슴)를 비롯하여 정현이가 처음 보는 캐나다의 많은 동물들을 보여주는 재미도 있었고, 정현이도 정말 신나했습니다.

우리 가족에게 이번 시간은 정말 특별하고 서로 가까워지는 소중한 시간이었습니다. 정현이를 가족으로 맞이하면서 그는 금세 우리 가족의 일원이 되었습니다. 아이들과 함께 시간을 보내는 걸 정말 좋아했고, 아이들도 그와 함께 있는 걸 무척 즐거워했습니다. 우리 모두 함께 즐겁고 뜻깊은 시간을 보냈습니다.

또 하나 좋았던 점은 정현이에게 캐나다의 교회를 경험하게 해준 것이었습니다. 한국에서의 신앙 생활과는 조금 다른 부분이 있었겠지만, 저희가 함께하는 신앙의 경험을 공유할 수 있었고, 정현이도 한국에서 어떻게 예배하고 하나님을 사랑하는지 나눠줘서 좋았습니다. 정현이가 그 안에서 조금 더 성장하고 확장되는 모습도 볼 수 있었어요.

그리고 정현이는 영어도 굉장히 빨리 배웠습니다. 가르쳐주는 대로 잘 따라왔고 영어 실력이 매우 빨리 늘었습니다.

홈스테이 프로그램 스탭들의 지원도 정말 훌륭했습니다. 궁금한 점이나 걱정이 생기면 언제든지 전화나 이메일을 통해 연락할 수 있었고, 항상 빠르게 응답해 주었습니다. 전반적으로 정말 좋은 시간이었기에, 이 프로그램을 고려하고 계시는 분들께 강력히 추천 드립니다.

Hi, I'm Matt Dempster and we've been here with Jeonghyun here for 12 weeks now over nearly the end, overtime with him and it's just been a fantastic 12 weeks getting to know him, learning more about his culture and where he grew up and how he lives and his family and sharing ours as well with them. We've done a lot of fun things with them the last 12 weeks. We've taken him out, see a bunch of beautiful spots of the mountains and we've had a great time doing that. He's had never seen elk before and has never seen a lot of animals we had, so it was fun to show things for the first time. He was just really excited about it.

As a family, I found like it's just a really bonding time for our family. We got bringing them into our family. He just quickly became part and loves hanging with our kids and they love hanging with him and just had a really fun time with him.

I think another great thing has been bringing Jeonghyun to our church and having to experience our church here in Canada. It's definitely a little bit different from his upbringing in Korea, but it's nice to sort of make sure our experience here with him and also him sharing kind of how he goes to church and how he loves God back Home. So it's been great to see him kind of stretch.

And yeah, just with him learning English, he learned very quickly. He was very responsive to us teaching him English and I picked up English very quickly.

That's been an awesome, awesome time with him.

The support that the homestay program has given us has been fantastic, always on handy if we need to have any questions or any concerns, we can give them a quick call or e-mail and they are very quick to respond and get back to us. And it's just been a awesome time. So it's been a great program and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to do it.
